By default, one signal group is created for the data logger. A signal group is defined as a set of signals to be acquired once the trigger condition of this signal group is encountered.

Users can define multiple trigger conditions for various acquisitions that may or may not share the same triggering signals. Each signal group stores signals in its own data file.

In this quick start, we cover only the most common parameters. For information on all parameters, see Data Logger Configuration.

...

In the main Data Logger tab, set the following parameters:

  • Recording mode: Set to Automatic for the acquisition to

    start

be armed when the simulation starts.

  • No data loss: Enables the data logger to cadence the simulation if an offline simulation mode of execution is selected. It can’t be used in real-time mode. The simulation runs as fast as the data logger can save data.

Let's add two signal groups by clicking twice on the Add 1 item button (1).Image Removed

Each signal group can be configured from the previous window or from each individual signal group window. (Click each signal group in the left panel to access their window.)Image Removed

Let's leave all parameters untouched for now.

Note:

  • The output data file name is set automatically to prevent file name collisions/overwriting.

  • The name format is SignalGroupName_ecfName_TimeStamp. Example: SIGNAL_GROUP_1_HVAC_500kV_6Bus_20190423_105021.

  • When the Decimation ratio is set to 1, the samples from each calculation step are stored.

  • When the Frame length and Frame

  • length unit are set to 10 seconds, the recording stops once 10 seconds have elapsed (or if the hard drive capacity limit is reached).
