Overview

The Smart Inverter Control Toolbox is a MATLAB-Simulink control and protection system toolbox developed based on the requirements of IEEE Std. 1547‐2018. It includes current controllers, power controllers, protection functions, and certain configurable grid support functions, such as Constant Power Factor (CPF), Volt-Var, and Droop. The toolbox allows users to quickly perform Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) of smart inverter controllers with their Real-Time Simulator. When performing RCP, the simulator acts as the controller and is interfaced with a real power converter.

The Smart Inverter Control Toolbox also allows for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) tests involving real control and protection system hardware to be enriched with smart inverters represented digitally within the Real-Time Simulation. Interfacing between real-time digital smart inverter model and real devices can be supported via communication protocols, such as Modbus TCP and IEC 61850 GOOSE. The toolbox can also be applied to offline MATLAB-Simulink simulations of smart inverter applications.

The following list shows the components of the toolbox:
