Importing a PSSE Network

The PSSE import can be found in the Network Import tool, opened from the HYPERSIM ribbon.

To import a PSSE model to HYPERSIM the path to the *.raw file (or *.dyr file) must be provided in the "File" text field. (Users can also browse for it using the button to the right).

All other files with the same name in the same directory are selected automatically. Users can import a model with a *.raw file without any *.dyr file, but may not import only a *.dyr file.

Options:

Replace machines by sources
  • if activated, the machines connected to unsupported control components are replaced by ideal voltage sources.
  • If deactivated, they are imported but without their controls. If an exciter is unsupported, the associated stabilizer is not imported either.
Remove not connected buses

Non-connected buses in the original circuit will not be imported

Pressing the Import button first analyzes the PSSE circuit and prepares a "edd" file and a python script that uses the Python API. This script will rely on data that will be stored in a folder ConversionReports_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-mm. next to the PSCAD file. The python script is then run and the model will be imported into HYPERSIM.

After the import is complete, reports containing information on overall conversion success and performance, as well as a list of components that may have not been converted, are generated in the previously mentioned conversion report folder.
