Understanding the Panel

When starting the demo, the panel in figure 9 appears first with the default settings.

 The panel is to be operated as follows:

  • In the upper left corner, under DC Machine (DCM) the student can set the field voltage of the DC machine and can change the value of the resistive load which can be connected or not.
  • In the middle left corner, under DC Motor Under Test (MUT), the student can set the field voltage of the MUT and can block the rotor.
  • Under Voltage Source, the student can control the voltage magnitude to be applied.
  • In the down-left corner, under Estimation & Command, the student can access the parameter identification tab, as well as speed and current controls.
  • Once an estimation procedure or a control is selected and run, the student can observe the related waveforms and/or displayed values under Oscilloscopes.
    More details about the displayed waveforms and values are discussed later.

Table 1 summarizes the control parameters, while table 2 is dedicated to the control buttons.

Table 4 presents the content of scopes for different tabs under “Oscilloscopes”.
It should be noted that the “Parameters Identification La and J” tabs have only one scope, and their scope is referred to as Scope1.
For the “Current Control” tab, there are two scopes. The top one is referred as Scope11 and the bottom one as Scope21.

Regarding the scopes under “Speed Control” tab, the two scopes at the top are referred to as Scope1 and Scope2, while the bottom one as Scope3.

The scopes that are automatically triggered allow students to see step change in current and speed.
Also, zoom-in capability options are enabled for these scopes.
