Examples | Feeder 25kV 24Bus
Location
This example model can be found in the software under the category "Distribution and Industrial Power Systems" > "Feeder_25kV_24Bus.ecf".
Description
The model consists of a distribution network exploited in a radial topology for various applications such as:
Testing of breaker-recloser
Impact of big load, including large induction motor setup
Impact of capacitor switching
Effect of load unbalance
Harmonics of typical industrial loads
Harmonic resonance
Impact of loads on voltage flicker
Effect of load modeling
This power network has an an average load of 5000 kW, 800 kVAR. The total length of lines is about 36 kmfor an average lenght of main lines about 5.5 km except for the remote load separated from the rest of the network by 46 km. It contains balanced and unbalanced loads, two induction motors, two capacitor banks, 3 breaker-reclosers, a 100 kW load with caracteristic harmonic of DC-motor drive (6-pulses). Loads are modelled as "Voltage dependant". The typical exponential for voltage dependence for winter load (electric heating) is np = 1.7 and nq = 2.6 (see ref.).
Simulation and Results
In this example model, a fault is programmed at L4 on phase A of the 3-phase bus from t = 0.1s to t = 0.2s. The following figures are displaying the behaviour of current and voltage at begining of the feeder, at 11 km from the utility, at 24 km from the utility and at the remote load.
The following figures display the current at the different motors in the network and also the machine speed for the two induction motors.
