Unbalanced System

Note: All the supported components that exist in SXST file will be imported and considered to be in-service. That means for a component that is out-of-service in CYME, the Solver imports its data and treats it as in-service. Thus, it is recommended to remove the data from the input file for the components that are required to be out-of-service during simulation.

When the netlist data is for unbalanced systems, the Unbalanced checkbox should be checked otherwise the Solver assumes that the netlist data is for balanced network (see figure below).

For such networks, ePHASORSIM uses the built-in library of three phase components to construct the network model. It should be noted that user defined models are not currently available for unbalanced systems; hence, make sure that Use built-in models checkbox is checked for unbalanced systems.

Moreover, ePHASORSIM’s power-flow feature for 3-phase components are limited. A list of all supported models for three phase power-flow is discussed in Power-Flow. However, the network can be initialized alternatively through an exported Excel file from CYME which includes the power-flow results. The procedure to generate such a file is discussed in details in Generate power-flow results from CYME ver. 7.2.

In addition, an Excel file is also required to specify the incoming and outgoing pins of the Solver block.

In summary, make sure that you have the following files:

  • A CYME netlist file (*.SXST)
  • An Excel file defining incoming and outgoing pins
  • An Excel file with power-flow analysis (optional)

For quick start guide on running simulations using CYME network data, check CYME input file.
