eHS Offline simulation - efs_eHS_Offline

Block

Table of Contents

Description

This block allows the offline simulation of an electrical circuit as would the eHS solver in real time. The block performs the same mathematical operations as the hardware-based block. This simulation is typically much slower than real-time, but enables the user to test the stability of a circuit without using a real-time simulator.

The simulated circuit can be provided as a Simscape Electrical Specialized Power Systems (SPS), a PLECS or a PSIM model, and the block enables control of its voltage and current sources as well as gating signals of the externally controlled switches.

Mask Parameters

Circuit File Name: Links this block to a file describing the circuit intended to be simulated using eHS. It should be a system built using the SPS toolbox, PLECS or PSIM. See the product documentation and example models for details on how to design the circuit for use with eHS.

Switch Conductance (Gs): This parameter is the conductance of the switches of the circuit. The parameter can either be a scalar or a vector. When a scalar is used, the Gs value is applied to all switches in the circuit. When the parameter is a vector, each element is applied to each individual switch with respect to their alphabetical order.

Enable LCA: This parameter tells the solver whether or not Loss Compensation Algorithm (LCA) should be activated. It is suggested to always keep this option enabled. If not, the solver will simulate the circuit using standard Pejovic switch model.

Sample Time: This parameter provided the solver with a sampling time.

Inputs

U: This input should be a vector of size equal to the number of independant voltage and current sources.

C: This input should be a vector of size equal to the number of switches present in the circuit.

Outputs

Y: This output is a vector of size equal to the number of current and voltage measurements in the circuit.

Characteristics and limitations

Circuit design: See the product documentation and example models for details on how to design the circuit for use with eHS.

Accuracy: This block uses double precision data from Matlab whereas the actual hardware implementation uses an intermediate format between single and double precision. Hence the results obtained offline may differ slightly from those observed in real-time.

Real-time simulation: This block does not enable real-time simulation, mainly because the computational load is too large to be accommodated by reasonably short simulation time steps. For real-time simulation, use the appropriate block in the eFPGASIM RT-LAB Converter library. This block uses the resources on external hardware to perform the computation needed by the solver.
