Saturable transformer

This block implements an saturable transformer.

The equivalent circuit is shown in the figure below:

The circuit is same than the Single Phase Ideal Two Winding Transformer, except that the magnetizing inductance has been replaced by its saturated version, which model consists of a controlled current source in parallel with an RC snubber. The value of the generated current is determined by the voltage measured across it.

Parameters

Parameters

Primary Winding

Ideal

When this option is enabled, the primary leakage resistance and inductance are so small that they can be neglected.

Nominal voltage (V1)

The nominal voltage V, in volts RMS, of the primary winding.

Resistance (R1)

The resistance, in ohms, of the primary winding.

Leakage inductance (L1)

The leakage inductance, in henries, of the primary winding.

Initial current (I1)

The initial current A, in amperes, of the primary winding.

Secondary Winding

Ideal

When this option is enabled, the secondary leakage resistance and inductance are so small that they can be neglected

Nominal voltage (V2)

The nominal voltage V, in volts RMS, of the secondary winding.

Resistance (R2)

The resistance, in ohms, of the secondary winding.

Leakage inductance (L2)

The leakage inductance, in henries, of the secondary winding.

Initial current (I2)

The initial current A, in amperes, of the secondary winding.

Magnetization

Core loss resistance (Rm)

Magnetization branch equivalent resistance value in ohm (Ω).

Saturation characteristic (φ=f(Im))

Saturation profile of the magnetizing inductance of the transformer (more details).

Initial flux (φ0)

Initial flux in weber (Wb)
