As shown below, to import the data from PowerFactory, the model must be first exported in the DGS-XML format. The export is configured using a dedicated export definition (or in PowerFactory terminology, a “Variable Section”). Before the actual model can be exported from PowerFactory, the Export Definition must be first imported into the Data Manager:
Notes
ePHASORSIM has currently the following limitations for the import of PowerFactory models:
Only positive sequence simulation and positive sequence components as described in Native Library section are supported.
Only a subset of the PowerFactory components are supported by the import. Please refer to the Specs for DGS File Format for a full list.
Only dynamic controllers from the PSS/e compatible library (v2022 or 2019) are supported. DIgSILENT or IEEE controllers are not supported.
This guide has been tested with PowerFactory version 2019 SP1.
1. Import of Export Definition
Open the Data Manager.
Right-click on the Project -> “Import”.
Select “
” -> “Open”.For PowerFactory versions 2019 and earlier use
Optionally select a new destination path via “New Path” in your Data Manager:
As this Export Definition is equal for all projects, it can be imported outside of your PowerFactory project.
Click “OK” to import the export definition
Afterwards a new folder should appear in the project structure
2. Export of Model
Activate the project in the Data Manager.
Open project in PowerFactory main window.
Run a positive sequence AC Load Flow.
Select “File” -> “Export” -> “DGS Format...”
Configure the following settings in the DGS-Export dialog:
General:
DGS Version: V5.00
Format: XML File
Encoding: UTF-8 (with BOM)
File Name: as you wish (e.g. Your Model.xml)
Selection:
Variable Sets: OPAL-RT UDB Export Definition (from step 1.)
Base Selection: All elements of the active project
Start export by clicking on “Execute”.
Verify and ensure there is absolutely no error or warning reported in PowerFactory's Output window regarding this process.
Otherwise the generated *.xml
format may not be compatible with OPAL-RT’s Unified Database (UDB).
If errors are shown, make sure your model is fulfilling the requirements listed on this page: Specs for DGS File Format
3. ePHASORSIM Solver Configuration
To use the generated XML file, PowerFactory must be selected from Input file format in the Network data tab of the Solver mask.
