The Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) output channel is used for intermodel communications between two different FPGA. Its fast paced communication protocol allows for better interconnectivity between two eHS on seperate FPGA compared to communication via Simulink outputs in the CPU. As such, it is the suggested method for intermodel connections.

To send a measurement to SFP output:

To send measurements to the SFP output channels of the simulator, you first need to add blocks to measure voltage or current in your circuit model.

Note: A Simulator Setup with a firmware must be in use in order to add connections. See Configuring a Setup for Your Simulation.

  • Select the block to be used for measurement (in the example below, a Voltmeter).
  • In the Parameters sidebar, hover over the parameter to be used for measurement.
    • An arrow appears on the right.
    • Click that arrow to open the Deep Panel.
  • The Deep Panel includes a list of connections. For most blocks, you will already find a connection to Simulink, added by default when dropping the block onto the diagram.
  • Click the '+' card to add a new connection.
  • Next, click the SFP button to add a new analog output to the block.
  • The destination pin along with other features can be edited once the new connection card shows up.

The example below shows an alternate way of accessing the Deep Panel from the block on the diagram.

To remove a connection:

  • Open the Deep Panel to display the connections of a parameter.
  • Hover over the card of the connection to be removed.
    • A Delete icon appears.
  • Click the icon to remove the connection.

  • You can change the Gain or the Offset of the measured value.
  • The output is a purely digital signal so there are no limits to the signal amplitude.
  • In the Parameters sidebar, change the Gain of the measured voltage or current.
  • Entering a Gain of 2, for example, doubles the value sent to the SFP output channel.
