This module is based on the IEEE std 412.5 type PSS1A excitation system model. A detailed explanation can be found in [1].

Exciter model overview
The Power System Stabilizer PSS1A block has a single input.
Input/output
The inputs and outputs for this model are described in Table 1.

I/O NameType (unit)Description
VSIInput (pu)Power system stabilizer model input
VSTOutput (pu)Power system stabilizer model output

Parameters

PSS1A Parameters

PSS1A Block diagram

NameUnitDescription
A1, A2-PSS signal conditioning frequency filter constants
T1, T3sPSS lead compensating time constant
T2, T4sPSs lag compensating time constant
T5sPSS washout time constant
T6sTransducer time constant
Ks-PSS gain
VSTmaxpuMaximum PSS output
VSTminpuMinimum PSS output

Additional notes

For all transfer functions, the degree of the numerator must be less than or equal to the denominator. The user must be aware of this restriction at all times.
Types of inputs
The power system stabilizer PSS1A allows inputs from speed, speed deviation, frequency, frequency deviation, electrical power and power deviation.
