This example can either be deployed to a PXIe-7868R card or a PXIe-7891 card.  The selected hardware configuration depends on the FPGA card to be used:

NI FPGA Card

Hardware Configuration

NI PXIe-7868ReHSx32_Dual_PMSM_SH_IO_7868R
NI PXIe-7891eHSx64_Quad_PMSM_VDQ_IO_7891

Each configuration shown above includes one eHS solver, multiple signal generators (Sinewaves, PWM, SPWM), multiple PMSM SH machines. The configurations allow for the simulation of up to two or four PMSMs respectively, but in this example we will use just one.

For more information about supported hardware configurations, please refer to the Supported Hardware Configurations section.

  • In the Configuration Tree, expand Controller >> Custom Devices to display the Power Electronics Add-On custom device.

  • Click OPAL-RT Power Electronics Add-On to open the configuration page.

  • The Configuration dropdown lists the supported hardware configurations of the Add-On.  Confirm that the correct configuration is selected.

  • In NI MAX, ensure that the FPGA target is named FPGA0.  For more information, see How to Select a Hardware Configuration.
