In the Schematic Editor, a Subsystem is used to group/nest components into a single block in order to simplify schematics.
To navigate between subsystems:
From the Model Browser, select and expand the uppermost folder (in the example below, named MyModel).
- Note how the parent has three layers of nested subsystems: child1, child2 and child3.
- As a result of this, the user knows that MyModel has a Subsystem block that contains child1.
- Likewise, child1 has a subsystem block that contains child2, etc.
Another way to access the Model Browser:
- Using the icon located above the diagram, in the Navigation Bar, users can access the Model Browser as well.
Navigating using the Navigation Bar:
- The Navigation Bar allows easy navigation within the model, displaying the path from the top model to the currently opened subsystem.
- Clicking the right-facing arrow icon opens a dropdown displaying the sibling subsystems of a subsystem in the path.
- To jump back to a previous subsystem, click its name in the Navigation Bar.
- The Navigation Bar stores the visited path in order to make it easier to jump back into a subsystem further down the hierarchy.
- (It can be seen in the example below: the visited path corresponds to the greyed-out names in the Navigation Bar.)
To navigate further down the hierarchy of subsystems:
- Uncollapse a folder for every further level down that you want to investigate.
- You are simply now working one level further inside the nested hierarchy of subsystems.
- Picture this as a hierarchy of folders that extends up and down, and that you can navigate in or interconnect, as though you were zooming in and out of subsystem levels and schematics.
