You may choose to use image blocks to add useful information to your drawing, or for other illustrative purposes.

To add an image element:

  • From the Library Browser > Helper Blocks drag an Image component onto the canvas.
  • Note that you can also drag and drop a supported image type directly onto the canvas.
  • Double-click the image component, and you are brought to the Windows Explorer default browse dialog.
  • Select the image you would like displayed from your desktop, a folder, or a network folder and click Open.
  • The image is inserted into the image component in your block diagram.
  • Alternately, you can select the image to display by clicking the Import image button from the Parameters sidebar.

To change an image:

  • You can change the image to display by clicking the Change image button from the Parameters sidebar.

To delete an image:

  • You can remove the image by clicking the trash can beside Change image button from the Parameters sidebar.

To resize the image block proportionately (while maintaining the correct aspect ratio):

  • Grab a resize point with the mouse and adjust as desired.
  • Note that the point directly opposite from the selected point is the pivot point, or the point that stays still while all else is resized.
  • Alternately, you can change the size of the picture by changing the width and height in the Parameters sidebar.
  • In the Parameters sidebar, a small padlock icon allows you to resize the image while disregarding the aspect ratio of the image.

To rotate the image block:

  • Use the circular arrow to rotate the image block in 90-degree increments.

All other actions that you may want to perform with the image block are detailed in Shortcuts & Hotkeys.

NOTE: .png, .gif and .jpg images are supported. Minimum resolution supported is 10 by 10 pixels, while maximum supported resolution is 10,000 by 10,000 pixels.
