I/O Pins for PSS/E Data

Excel Template

The I/O pins for PSS/E models are defined in the Excel Template mentionned in https://opal-rt.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/EUD/pages/edit-v2/23199830#Prepare-the-I%2FO-Pins-File.

The Excel file must have the following pages:

  • General: basic information of the power system, see https://opal-rt.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/EUD/pages/23216542/Introduction+to+Excel+Template#General

  • Pins: used to define the required incoming and outgoing ports, see  Introduction to Excel Template | IntroductiontoExcelTemplate Pins

The following pages can be used and are optional:

Pins identifiers in PSS/E and Excel File

During a PSS/E import, the names of the components will change compared to their PSS/E names. These modified names are those required to define the pins.

The convention for creating the PSS/E names used for pins IDs is based on a combination of prefixes, bus names, and identifiers found in the PSS/E RAW and DYR files. The identifiers in PSS/E RAW files are one or two-character uppercase non-blank alphanumeric. The table below lists this convention.

Alternatively, you can access the modified names by running the simulation once without any pins to get the list of components from the *_solver.opal file.

You can then use those names to access the component and its pins.

The I/O pins for PSS/E input files only support positive sequence components listed in Native Library.
