Accessing a Target using IPMI Remote Access

IPMI must be configured on the target prior to using IPMI remote access.

Using IPMI Remote Access with OP4512, OP5020XG, OP5033XG, OP5705XG, and OP5707XG Simulators

Prerequisites

  • Applicable Systems: OP4512, OP5020XG, OP5033XG, OP5705XG, OP5707XG.

  • IP Address: Obtain the IP address of the IPMI interface. Note that OPAL-RT configures the IPMI to DHCP by default.

  • Network Connectivity: Ensure the system is connected to a network via the IPMI LAN Ethernet port. The host computer must be able to ping the IPMI IP address to verify network connectivity between the host and the system’s IPMI interface.

1. Access the IPMI Web Interface

  • Open a web browser on your local computer.

  • Enter the IPMI IP address in the address bar.

    • You will likely encounter a security warning because the target does not use a security certificate:

      • Click on the appropriate option to proceed (e.g. “Advanced” > “Proceed to site” or similar, depending on your browser).

2. Logging In to the IPMI Interface

  • Enter the following credentials:

    • Username: ADMIN

    • Password: Refer to the System Description Document provided with your hardware. You can find this document on the CD or USB drive that was shipped with your system package. If you cannot find the login credentials, contact OPAL-RT Technical Support.

3. Accessing Remote Control

  • After logging in to the Supermicro IPMI interface:

    • Navigate to the Remote Control menu.

    • Select iKVM/HTML5.

    • Click the iKVM/HTML5 button.

4. Proceed with OPAL-RTLinux Login

  • Once the remote control window is open , you will see the OPAL-RTLinux screen.

  • Follow the standard login procedure as described in the earlier section to access OPAL-RTLinux.

Using IPMI Remote Access with OP4610XG and OP5025XG Simulators

Prerequisites

  • Applicable Systems: OP4610XG, OP5025XG.

  • IP Address: Obtain the IP address of the IPMI interface. Note that OPAL-RT configures the IPMI to DHCP by default.

  • Network Connectivity: Ensure the system is connected to a network via the IPMI LAN Ethernet port. The host computer must be able to ping the IPMI IP address to verify network connectivity between the host and the system’s IPMI interface.

  • Once the remote control window is open, you will see the OPAL-RTLinux screen.

  • Follow the standard login procedure as described in the earlier section to access OPAL-RTLinux.
