Connections management

Page Content

Description

I/O interfaces and models need to be connected together in order to properly exchange data from one side to the other.

This is performed in two consecutive steps:

  • Assigning the I/O interface with the corresponding subsystem

  • Linking together datapoints from the I/O interface and from the model

Assignment

Newly created I/O interfaces appear in the state “<Not assigned>“:

FIG 1: I/O Assignments states

Every I/O interface must be assigned to any subsystem from any model of the same RT-LAB project.

Keep in mind that the list of subsystems of a model will appear only after a successful compilation.

The assignment of I/O interface can be performed in two ways:

  • Dragging the I/O interface over the target subsystem in the left panel

  • Selecting the target subsystem with the help of the 'Associated subsystem' drop-down list in the configuration panel of the I/O interface

Configuration and connections

Once the I/O interfaces properly configured and the corresponding models created and compiled, only remain the management of the connections between the different datapoints.

The following part is essential for the following reasons:

  • modeling: It gives the capacity to drive the data coming from the Orchestra system towards any specific datapoints within the model

  • system loading: connecting any datapoints of the I/O interface appoints it to be loaded along with its associated subsystem (otherwise it will be ignored)

  • flexibility: any modifications done in this configuration will update the next simulation without the need to compile the corresponding models

This can be done through the “Configuration” panel.

Within the configuration panel, two lists can be used to handle the connections between datapoints:

  • “Models” listing all datapoints within all models in the project

  • “I/O Interfaces” listing all datapoints within all I/O Interfaces of the project

Once the two lists are expanded, performing the connections between the models' datapoints and the I/O interfaces' datapoints requires to drag and drop either one of those on the other. The configuration panel should update its connection part for the two datapoints involved.

Connection can be made only between datapoints of associated model and I/O interface. Check that the assignment has been correctly done in case of failure.
