Firmware Manager

The Firmware Manager allows users to view firmware version details, add and delete firmware versions.  It is accessible via the topbar dropdowns (Simulate > Firmware Manager) or via the Simulator Setup view, in the Firmware settings category on the right hand side.

The Firmware Manager view:

The footer at the bottom gives the user information on how many firmware versions are available to be used. The section on the right displays the information related to the specific firmware version highlighted.

To view firmware details:

By clicking on any of the firmware version listed, details will be displayed instantly on the right.

To navigate through the list, the user can use the arrow keys (↑ or ↓) as well.

For more information on the Firmware revision, the user can click the Release notes text at the bottom of the firmware details info on the left. This can also be accessed in the Simulator Setup.

To view which models are currently using a specific firmware version, the user can hover on the Used In entry category of said firmware and see the list of models.

To sort firmware:

The default sort for the table is by name in ascending order. By clicking on the header of the category the user would like to sort, the sort is triggered. By clicking a second time on the same header, the sort is triggered in reverse (i.e from firmware ascending to firmware descending and vice versa or by platform ascending to descending and continued). All categories can be sorted and clicking on Revision will sort by latest first and used in by most used to least used.

To filter firmware:

By using the filter, users can search specifically for firmware by name, revision or platform. The filter is multi-word, which allows for specifying results.

The filter works for all categories, searching for any potential matches that include the text entered. In the example bellow, the user enters "kintex 1.2" which results in firmware versions with the matching name that have revision of 1.2.

Filtering and sorting can be used together to best visualize the firmware versions.

To import new firmware versions:

A user can either import a firmware by clicking on the button on the right hand side above the table, which then opens a file browser or by dragging and dropping the files directly onto the table.

Import button:

Drag and drop:

To Delete firmware versions:

To remove old or unwanted firmware versions, the user can hover on said version and select the trash can that appears when hovering. The application will warn the user in case the firmware version is still being used, listing models using said firmware and ask for confirmation.

On confirmation, the unwanted firmware will be removed from the list. It can always be re-imported by using the import method mentioned above.

Official firmware versions that are provided from the application database cannot be deleted.
