Customizing the TestDrive Interface

The first step to using the TestDrive Interface is to customize it to reflect your needs. Once the TestDrive Interface is started, here are some steps to help you customize your working environment in terms of views, features and help.

To assign a panel to a button

  • Click the Panels tab on the Config/Panels tab control. You can also click View > Show Panels.
  • Right-click the panel you want to customize and select Assign… from the context menu. A file browser opens.
  • Using the file browser, select the panel you want to associate with the button. The button displays the first seven letters of the sub-panel's title
  • To rename the button, right-click the button and select Rename… from the context menu.
  • The button name appears, highlighted. Type the new button name
  • To release a panel button from the assigned panel, right-click on the panel you want to customize and select Unassign from the context menu

To alternate from the primary chassis to the secondary chassis

  • Click Modules > Primary Chassis or Modules > Secondary Chassis

To save your changes

  • Select File > Save.

You can also save your changes under a different name by selecting File > Save as

Customizing Sub-Panels

The application panes and sub-panels can be customized to suit your needs. The top pane's LEDs, the bottom pane's knobs, and the right pane's switches can be assigned simulator signals. Their size and location are fixed. The sub-panel components can also be assigned simulator signals, and in addition, they can be moved and resized.

To customize a panel

  • Click the Panels tab on the Config/Panels tab control. You can also click View > Show Panels.
  • Load a panel by clicking one of the panel buttons, or by using the Load… button and selecting your panel using the file browser. You can also click Panels > Load and select your panel.
    • The panel is displayed in the customization pane.
  • Click the Customize button of the Mode The signal tree appears in the left part of the customization pane.
    • You can also click Mode > Customize.

  • Click the Config tab on the Config/Panels tab control. You can also click View > Show Module Config.
  • Click a module button to display its signals in the Signal Tree.
  • Click a signal in the Signal Tree.
  • Click the panel component you want to assign the signal
  • The signal's alias is displayed

While assigning signals to panel components, if you are trying to assign an output signal to an indicator or an input signal to a control, a red dot will appear momentarily. Otherwise, a green dot will appear, showing you are assigning the right type of signal to the panel component.

  • Repeat steps 6 and 7 to assign other signals to the panel components
  • To select signals from another module, repeat step 5 and 6
  • To modify an alias, right-click the component, select Alias… from the context menu, and type the new alias
  • You can also right-click the signal or its alias in the Signal Tree and type the new alias.

To modify a component's data range

  • right-click the component, select Range… from the context menu, and type the maximum, minimum, and increment values in their respective

To modify a signal's scaling

  • right-click the component to which the signal is assigned, select Scaling… from the context menu, and type the new scaling parameters in their respective fields.

To trace back the signal assigned to a component

  • in the Signal Tree, right-click the component and select Find Signal from the context menu.

To release a panel component (to unassign the signal)

  • right-click the component and select Unassign from the context menu
