Maintenance and Repair
This product must only be serviced by authorized, qualified personnel. Unauthorized opening or servicing of this product voids the product warranty.
When servicing this product, beware of the hazards and follow the recommendations cited throughout this manual.
Hazardous voltage levels may be present when cabinet doors are opened or covers are removed.
Manipulation of the Test Setup
Hazardous voltage levels may be present inside the cabinet when the product is under operation or when it is connected to an external energy source. The interior of the cabinet or of the power distribution unit (PDU) should never be opened without following the procedures described bellow. Cabinet doors and the PDU door should be kept permanently locked. Failure to follow these recommendations could lead to risks of electric shock.
Accessing the Inside of the Cabinet
The inside of the cabinet may need to be accessed to reconfigure the wiring of the test setup. It is recommended to access through the rear door (though the side doors are available as an alternative).
Before unlocking the doors and gaining access to the inside of the cabinet, the following procedure must be executed:
- Disconnect all external sources that could provide energy to the test bench through the OP1460 or OP1480 using the DER disconnect switches
- Disconnect the 3 phase AC supply lines to the PDU using the PDU's disconnect switch (accessible on the rear of the cabinet)
The disconnect switches on the OP14xx test benches are padlockable if a higher level of safety is desired.
Accessing the Inside of the Power Distribution Unit (PDU)
It may be necessary to gain access to the interior of the power distribution unit (PDU) for maintenance or troubleshooting reasons. The PDU (located on the back of the cabinet) may be opened with a screwdriver. It should only be opened after having executed the following procedure :
- Disconnect all external sources that could provide energy to the test bench through the OP1460 or OP1480 using the DER disconnect switches
- Disconnect the monophasic power bars from the wall outlets (as they are providing power to the PDU)
- Disconnect the 3 phase AC supply lines to the PDU through an external breaker or external disconnect switch (it is not sufficient to use the PDU's disconnect switch)
Programing the IT6000C Power Supplies
The IT6000C power supplies support many different configurations and modes of operation. However, Opal-RT strongly recommends to limit the use of the power supplies as described in this manual. Operating the IT6000C power supplies at different settings/limits than what is recommended by Opal-RT may put personnel and equipment at risk!
