How to Duplicate an Existing Hardware Configuration
One of the features of the Hardware Configuration Manager is the ability to duplicate an existing hardware configuration to extend its capabilities.
For example, consider a case where a user would like to simulate two rings of LTC6810 devices on two different PXIe-7820R boards. To achieve this, we can create a new hardware configuration by duplicating an existing one containing a single LTC6810 Ring, e.g. the 1xRing_16xLTC6810_7820R. This will allow the simulation of double the resources on two separate PXIe-7820R FPGAs.
Procedure
Launch Hardware Configuration Manager
In VeriStand, launch the System Explorer.
Expand the configuration tree and navigate to the CMDE Add-On Main Page.
Click the Launch HCM button in the toolbar.
Create New Hardware Configuration
In the Installed Hardware Configurations list, select the 1xRing_16xLTC6810_7820R configuration.
Click the >> button twice to add two instances of the configuration to the Selected Bitfiles list. This process automatically assigns an FPGA alias to each bitfile.
Enter a new Hardware Configuration Name and Description in the provided text boxes.
Click Create New Hardware Configuration.
Close the Hardware Configuration Manager.
Select New Configuration
In the CMDE Add-On Main Page, select the new hardware configuration from the drop-down menu.
