HIL2GO-410 - OP5025XG CPU-based Real-time Simulator Hardware Description

Page Content

General Overview

Based on the 6-cores AMD Ryzen 5, the OP5025XG simulator serves as an ideal master system for configurations requiring FPGA and I/O expansion units. The OP5025XG also provides an ideal platform for real-time cybersecurity applications, in which only network protocols such as C37.118 and IEC61850 are required for hardware integration. It as well serves as for users simply wishing to accelerate their offline simulations using OPAL-RT’s parallel processing technology.

The OP5025XG includes three PCI Express expansion slots, to implement high-speed interfacing with other OPAL-RT simulators and an FPGA I/O expansion chassis for larger distributed Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulations. The PCI Express slots also support many third party I/O cards, time synchronization and more, all while offering space to add additional Ethernet cards for applications requiring increased network bandwidth.

Unit Information

Simulator specifications are described in the OP5025XG user manual.

  • Network port LAN1 (enp39s0) default IP address is written on a label on the front of the simulator in the left bottom corner (see the illustrations below).
This port usually connects to your organization’s Local Area Network (LAN) through a router or a network switch.
The Ethernet ports on this simulator’s motherboard only support gigabit links. 10/100Mbps links are not supported.

  • The port LAN2 (enp38s0) is used to connect via Ethernet the OP5025XG simulator to the OP4810-IO FPGA Processor and I/O Expansion unit for bitstream flashing.
