OP1400 PHIL Test Bench Series Troubleshooting

Page Content

Verify that the mains supply is disconnected and that no external energy source is connected to the OP1460 or OP1480 terminals before opening the cabinet doors or the PDU when troubleshooting. Failure to do so could expose the user to risks of electric shocks. Refer to OP1400 Series Important Safety Information - Manipulation of the test setup for more information.

Unable to turn on the DC power supplies

  • Verify that the power knob on the DC power supply is set to the ON (I) position

  • Verify that the 3 phase mains input disconnect switch (at the back of the test bench, on the PDU, and/or building disconnect switch) is turned on

  • Verify that the circuit breaker on the 3 phase mains input (inside the PDU or building breaker) is activated and has not tripped, refer to problem Overcurrent protection on 3 phase mains input keeps tripping when working in the medium to high power range on the test bench if this problem keeps reappearing

  • Verify that the Emergency Stop on OP1490 is deactivated (+24V_E-STOP LED must be lit), rotate the Emergency Stop button clockwise if not the case, refer to problem OP1490: +24V_E-STOP light does not turn on when releasing the EMERGENCY STOP button if necessary

  • Verify that the DC OK LED light on the MDR-60-24 Power Supply is ON inside the PDU. If not, make sure all 120V connections on the Power Bar(s) are well done (no loose)

  • Verify that the signal harness on the rear panels of the OP1490 (E-STOP connector) and on the rear panel of the OP1460/1480 (P1 connector) are correctly plugged in

  • Verify that the Start/Stop button is lit on the OP1490, press Start if not the case, refer to problem OP1490: Start/Stop button not working if necessary

Overcurrent protection on 3 phase mains input keeps tripping when working in the medium to high power range on the test bench

  • For test bench models with more than one DC power supply, verify that the 3 phase connections are interleaved from one power supply to another to ensure balanced three phase current, as documented in OP14xx Installation - Reassembling the rack

  • Verify that the SFP cable is correctly connected between the amplifier (right SFP port) and the simulator

  • Verify that the SFP communication link has been correctly configured in RT-LAB and that the model is running (measurements coming from the amplifier should have a little noise)

  • Verify that the OP8110 amplifier unit is turned ON (light inside power-on button on the front panel is green), refer to problem OP8110 Amplifier does not turn ON if necessary

  • Power down the DC supply and wait for 5 minutes before reenabling the precharge sequence, refer to OP8110 Power Stage (DC Precharge section).

OP8110 Amplifier: unable to enable an amplifier output through RT-Lab

  • Verify that the SFP cable is correctly connected between the amplifier (right SFP port) and the simulator

  • Verify that the SFP communication link has been correctly configured in RT-LAB and that the model is running (measurements coming from the amplifier should have a little noise)

  • Try clicking on the DISABLE button before retrying the ENABLE button (GUI synchronisation issue that arises when trying to enable outputs too rapidly)

OP8110 Amplifier does not turn ON

  • Verify that the auxiliary supply harnesses (one for OP8110-3, two for OP8110-6) are correctly plugged-in on the OP8110's 12V AUX connectors on the rear panel

  • Verify that the signal harness on the rear panels of the OP1490 (PS_AUX_CONNECTOR) is correctly plugged in

  • Verify that all the +12V PS_AUX LEDs are lit on the OP1490, refer to problem OP1490: one or more of the +12V PS_AUX lights are not lit if necesary

OP1470's power meters not functional

  • Verify that all power bars inside the test bench are plugged in and turned ON (indicator light should be lit on power bars)

  • Verify that the supply inlet is plugged on the rear panel of the OP1470

  • Verify that the power switch is turned ON (I) on the OP1470's rear panel

OP1470: one or more power meter does not show correct voltages or currents

  • Verify that all the signal connectors (V_uGRID, I_uGRID, V_DERx and I_DERx) have their harnesses plugged-in on OP1470's rear panel and that they are correctly mapped (refer to labels on signal harnesses)

  • Verify that all the signal connectors (V_uGRID, I_uGRID, V_DERx and I_DERx) have their harnesses plugged-in on OP1460's rear panel and that they are correctly mapped (refer to labels on signal harnesses)

OP1460 is not supplied (24V ON light is not lit)
