AC-to-DC Rectifiers - Objective

The present course introduces the student to the basic operation principles of diode-based and thyristor-based rectifier circuits also named AC-to-DC Rectifier.
Students will be introduced to the single-phase and three-phase diode bridge rectifiers, as well as the three-phase thyristor bridge rectifier.
They will learn the impact of varying sinusoidal input voltage and varying loads on the rectifiers’ operations.
Additionally, students will study the operation limits of thyristor-based rectifier for resistive (R) and inductive loads (RL) by varying the thyristors’ firing angle (α).
