Lab 2 - Panels
Page Contents
Understanding the Panel
The main panel is shown in Figure 9
This panel will allow the user to control the whole circuit as well as to retrieve the desired values and observe the plotted signals.
At startup all switches are turned off.
The different parts of the panel will be explained in the sections that follows.
Control switches and inputs
To select the active component in the circuit among TCR, TSC-1, TSC-2, and FC, press the corresponding switches shown in Fig. 10. The selected switch will turn green. Please note that you can connect multiple components at the same time.
In the circuit parameters section shown in Fig. 11, you can choose and modify various parameters of the circuit, such as changing the source RMS, adjusting the TCR phase delay, and altering the RLC parameters connected to TSC-1, TSC-2, and FC, respectively.
Circuit display
The selected circuit blocks will be directly indicated on the circuit representation via LED indicators. A green LED means the switch is on, while a red LED means it is off. Additionally, both the source RMS and the delay angle in degrees will appear on the circuit representation figure, as shown in Figure 12.
Additionally, the values of the reactive power are measured in each block as well as in the source, and you can see them displayed as follows:
Explanation of Data Scopes
Transformer Scopes
Thyristor Controlled Reactor (TCR) Scopes
Thyristor Switched Capacitor (TSC-1) Scopes
Thyristor Switched Capacitor (TSC-2) Scopes
Fixed Capacitor (FC) Scopes
Help Tab
When clicking on “Help tab”, the panel in figure 19 is displayed.
In this panel you can see an image of the simulated circuit as well as the circuit parameters.
