Importing a Linux-based HYPERSIM model

Export the Model from HYPERSIM LINUX

  • On the simulator, start HYPERSIM, open the model to export and switch to simulation mode.
  • Still as user hypusr01, from the command line, execute:
hyexec -d RTServer:1 -c "exportDevice -f /mnt/hyppub/exportedModelName.edd"

where RTServer is the simulator hostname and /mnt/hyppub/exportedModelName.edd is the full directory path where the exported model will be saved (in this case in the simulator shared folder).

If you don’t know your simulator hostname, enter the following command to display it:

hyp_gethostname



Note: The path specified to save the exported model must be a path for which hypusr01 has write access (i.e. path starting with /home/hypusr01/ or /mnt/hyppub/).



  • Copy the generated .edd file to the Windows computer.

Importing the Model into HYPERSIM WINDOWS

  • Start HYPERSIM and create a new blank design.

  • From the HYPERSIM tab, click Network in the Import section.

  • Browse to the location of the .edd file exported from Linux.

  • Select the desired .edd file to import and click Open.

  • Finally, after choosing whether or not to:
    • i) replace the machines from the Linux-based model with voltage sources
    • ii) add dummy devices to replace unavailable components, and
    • iii) to connect the components...
  • ...click Import to import the selected Linux-based model with the corresponding options.

  • The model is imported and a report is displayed.

  • The model is imported with the correct original parameters and the original positions as defined in the Linux-based HYPERSIM model.
  • Note that the model may not look like the original model since the block size is different in Windows.
  • Connections are also managed differently. Choosing to make the connections automatically can help accelerate validating the behavior of the model, but may not look right.
  • The update button updates the model parameters with the parameters from the selected .edd file.
  • Simulink blocks from a Linux-based model cannot be automatically imported into HYPERSIM Windows. You will have to reimport your Simulink models manually.
  • UCM blocks will automatically be imported if the corresponding .def is present at the same location as the .edd
  • In HYPERSIM Windows, there is no distinction between programmable and non-programmable synchronous machines. Consequently, non-programmable machines from Linux-based models are imported as machines with external control possibilities, and with the correct parameters to match the non-programmable machine.
