This documentation explains the HYPERSIM target installation process.

Adding a Target

  • Under the HYPERSIM tab in the Tools section, click Target Manager.

  • Click + (Add Target).

  • Enter the IP address of your target. Add an intuitive description so that you may easily recognize your target.

When done, click Ok.

  • The user and password are required for the first installation, see below for the details.

If you have lost or misplaced your Target's credentials, please contact our Technical Support team and we'll be happy to assist you. Be sure to include your simulator's Operating System (e.g., OPAL-RTLinux 3)

  • The target is now displayed in the Targets panel along with identifying information.

The green mark indicates the target is reachable on the network (or was the last time the status was refreshed). Y

Installing HYPERSIM

  • Click the Targets tree node, then the tree node associated to the target, then Versions.

  • You can click refresh to get information about the versions:

    • The version that currently runs on the target (highlighted in blue)
    • Installed versions on the target
    • The date of the last information refresh

  • Click the Install Version button to install the version on the target.

After the installation is completed, the Local running version and Target running version should match.

Installing Licenses on a Target

Once the target's HYPERSIM version matches the host's HYPERSIM version, update your licenses via the Target Manager.

  • Click the target's License tree item in the left navigation bar.
  • All license information is available in the first tab, and communications with the target are logged in the Log tab.

  1. First, the target's license information needs to be requested. Click the (info) Information button: Get target information and license file.
    1. Machine information is displayed in the first text area. This information is mandatory whenever a target license request is sent via https://www.opal-rt.com/contact-technical-support/
    2. If a license is already installed, its information populates the table.
  2. Once a license file is received from the support team (either in *.zip or *.bin format), simply load it and install it using the button below.

    1. Browse for your license file, or type its path in the text field highlighted above.

      The file should contain:
      1. A zip file containing an osbin file and/or a bin file
      2. An osbin file, which is the Operating System License
      3. bin file, which is the HYPERSIM license.

    2. Once the file is selected, click the arrow to request the installation.

First, the osbin file is installed. Then, a license comparison tool appears. It compares the currently used license to the one you intend to install.

Click Install to perform the installation.

    1. Once installation is finished, the target should be ready to perform simulation.
If the license is incompatible with the target, an error message will appear.
