HYPERSIM Ribbon Options
This section focuses on the HYPERSIM ribbon. The ribbon is segmented into seven sub-categories (Tools, Import/Export, Sensors & IOs, Data Logger, Network, Simulation and Help) and each one contains several actions.
Tools
These tools enhance simulation testing, analysis, and configuration capabilities:
- ScopeView is a graphical data acquisition and signal processing software
- TestView is a powerful GUI enabling the definition and execution of automated tests
- Sequencer open a GUI allowing you to execute simulation sequences written in Python
- Preferences allow the user to manage display units (SI/PU) and various other global parameters
- EXata-CPS is a communication network emulation toolbox that allows co-simulation with the power system and study of cyber-attacks and cyber-incidents. If you are interested in a cyber-physical co-simulation contact us for more information.
- Target Manager is used to manage the target's HYPERSIM version, license, compilation/simulation parameters, as well as run diagnostics and other advanced parameters.
- Dashboard application allows the creation of easy-to-navigate tables of parameters and signals, as well as the creation of panels to display and control widgets.
Import/Export
These buttons help integrate other model and component formats into HYPERSIM circuits.
- Project allows you to Import or export HYPERSIM projects as zip files
- UCM opens the User-Coded Models drop-down allowing the user to design and define their own components.
- Simulink importing from or exporting to Simulink. Works best with control components.
- Network Down (↓) and Up (↑) opens a panel that imports or exports, respectively, models designed in other formats. By default, only the .edd extension file is enabled. PSCAD, PSS®E and E-TRAN imports can be enabled upon request.
Sensors & IOs
Sensors and IOs are manipulated in this section. IOs can be set up in I/O Interfaces. Sensors specify which signals provide data to ScopeView or through the Data Logger.
- The Save button saves the current sensor configuration.
- The Save As button saves the current sensor configuration to a .sig file.
- The Load button loads the current sensor configuration from a .sig file. Any existing sensor configuration will be lost and replaced with the new sensor file.
- The Append merges the current configuration and the one in the selected .sig file. The additional sensor configuration will be appended to the current configuration.
- The Clear button removes all currently active sensors.
- The Sensor Summary button opens up the panel below which helps to manage all selected sensors and their associated I/O.
Data Logger
The Data Logger records signals and triggers to data files for post-simulation analysis in ScopeView or the post-analysis tool of your choice.
- The Control Center opens the Data Logger interface.
- The Recording Manager opens an explorer window allowing you to view and manage recordings or open the recordings directly in ScopeView.
Network
This section permits analysis and configuration of networks and circuits
- Analyze scans the network. It is recommended that you call this method after any major circuit modification. Many functionalities depend upon having run an analysis of the network.
- Load Flow is used to set parameters for the power flow algorithm and obtain a detailed report of the results.
- Map Tasks optimizes resources according to the circuit and the simulation target.
- Generate Code converts the model into code which is called during the simulation. This operation is also automated if changes are detected when starting the simulation.
- Topology Analysis shows general statistics of the network and reports potential warnings and errors when using EMTP-RV format models.
- Netlist provides a convenient UI to inspect component information and enables component parameter modification (example below).
- Impedance is used to measure the impedance of a three-phase electrical circuit seen from a bus, according to the frequency.
- Set Initial Conditions calculates the circuits' Load flow initial conditions. It is a shortcut to launch the load flow algorithm based on the values set in the Load Flow panel.
- Disable Breakers/Faults disables all Breakers and faults in the circuit by disabling their parameter General operation. This does not impact a breaker's Referenced operations configuration.
- Task Manager provides a panel to configure tasks.
The Netlist User interface
Simulation
- Start begins the simulation
- Stop ends the simulation
- Settings opens a panel described here.
- The Snapshot dropdown allows you to take a snapshot of the simulation in its current state
- The monitoring dropdown allows you to Start/Stop Monitoring (de)activates all Monitors.
- RT Monitor tools monitor simulation performance
Help
- Help opens the User Documentation: HYPERSIM, Schematic Editor, or Dashboard Application
- Diagnostic allows you to gather all logs of the simulation in its current state.
