Switches protection
Over-current
Each of the switches of the card can sink or source a maximum of 2A continuous or 3A pulsed for 100ms, and a maximum of 12A is supported for the whole card
When an error condition is detected on one switch, the FPGA reports the error to the model and deactivate the channel. The error is displayed via the Fault LED of the faceplate of the card, and the Over-Current LED of the SM Run-Time Panel. After removing the error condition, the operator can reactivate the channel by toggling the Ack_OC switch of the panel.
Note that on card revision 2.5 and higher, an over-current condition on the Global rail can triggers the over-current fault.
