OP5142EX1 Analog Out
Block
Mask
Description
The OP5142EX1 Analog Out block is used to transfer analog output voltage values to be applied to the analog output channels of an OP5330 module installed on an OP5220 carrier connected to an OP5142 board.
The data values are transferred to the OP5142 bitstream from the RT-LAB model through one DataIn port of the bitstream, via the PCIe bus of the target computer.
Each OP5142 bitstream using Analog Output channels comes with a configuration file which lists the Data port number and the corresponding OP5330 modules location in the system. The configuration file name is the same as the bitstream file name entered in the OpCtrl OP5142EX1 block, with the extension .conf instead of .bin.
This configuration file uses three parameters to describe the location of the OP5330 channels:
- the Slot number (in the range 1 to 4) is the slot of the backplane connected to the OP5142 in which the OP5220 is installed,
- the Section A or B is the location of the OP5330 module on the OP5220 carrier,
- the Sub-Section,1 or 2, is the subset of data values connected to the DataIn port: subset 1 returns values for the 8 first channels of the OP5330, and subset 2 returns values for the 8 last channels.
The user must refer to the configuration file (opened with any text editor) for selecting the DataIn port number for the desired Analog Output channels. The OP5142EX1 Analog Out block then parses the configuration file and displays the Slot, Section and Sub-section values corresponding to the DataIn port number in the 'Slot info' parameter.
The maximum number of Analog Output channels controlled by one OP5142EX1 Analog Out is limited by the size of the subset of channels in one sub-section, usually 8.
Parameters
Controller Name | Bind this block to an OpCtrl OP5142EX1 block by entering the same 'Controller Name' as specified in the OpCtrl OP5142EX1 block The OpCtrl OP5142EX1 block controls initialization of the settings of one specific OP5142 card in the system. |
---|---|
DataIn port number | Enter the number of the DataIn port to be controlled by this block, in the range [1:32]. |
Slot info | This non-editable parameter displays the physical location of the analog output channels related to the selected DataIn port, as obtained from the parsing of the configuration file. |
Maximum number of AOut channels controlled by this block | This non-editable parameter displays the number of channels in one sub-section listed in the configuration file. |
Number of AOut channels | Enter the number of channels for which data values will be transmitted at each calculation step. This number must be less than or equal to the value of the 'Maximum number of AOut channels' parameter. The data transfer mechanism between RT-LAB and the OP5142 does not allow the selection of individual channels in the sub-section of channels. The data supplied by the block will thus apply to the N first channels of the sub-section, where N is the value of the 'Number of AOut channels' parameter. |
Set Voltage Range from input port | When this option is checked an additional input labeled Voltage Range appears on the block. Three (3) choices are available: +/- 16 V, +/-10 V, +/- 5 V. A constant value should be connected to the input in order to select the Voltage Range, as indicated in the table below. |
Constant Value | Voltage Range Selected |
---|---|
5 | +/- 5 V |
10 | +/-10 V |
Any other number | +/- 16 V |
Note:
- Voltage Range must be the same for all channels. When having two OP5142EX1 Analog Out blocks driving the same mezzanine (Subsections A and B), both of them must have the same Voltage Range selection. The same constant value should be applied to both of them.
- The 16-bit resolution for the D/A is maintained when you select any of the three voltage range available.
- Once this option is checked and the Apply button is hit the Voltage Range option below disappears.
Voltage Range: Enter the voltage range that should be used by the Analog Out block. Three (3) choices are available : +/- 16 V, +/-10 V, +/- 5 V.
Inputs
Volts: This input supplies the voltage values, in Volts, for the subset of channels selected. The voltage range of the OP5330 module is specified by the 'Voltage Range' parameter. Out of range values get saturated before being submitted to the card.
Outputs
Status: This output returns the following values:
Value | Description |
---|---|
0 | No error. |
-1 | Block could not be matched with an OpCtrl OP5142EX1 block (check the 'controller Name' value), or OP5142 card initialization problem. |
-2 | Internal memory initialization problem. |
-7 | Data values out of range. The OP5330 module output range is specified by the 'Voltage Range' parameter. Out of range values get saturated to these levels. |
