OP7000V2 Rear Interface

By symmetry with the front interface, the rear interface offers:

  • Three middle slots in the back of the Primary FPGA.
  • 16 I/O slots, split into two groups of eight on each side of the middle slots
  • One power section

Middle slots (F3, F2, F1)

  • Slot F3 (A): PCIe interface

This interface is the front plate of the OP7461 PCIe card which connects on the mid-plane to the PCIe lanes of the OP7170-1 board. It is used to connect the chassis to a real-time simulator using a PCIe cable with an iPass x4 connector.

This interface is mandatory for OP7000V2 PCIe Expansion and MuSE Central configurations.  In MuSE Remote configuration, this interface is ignored.

  • Slot F2 (B): Hardware synchronization interface

This interface is the front plate of the OP7832 synchronization card which connects to the mid-plane to the back of the OP7170-1 board. It is used to produce/receive the hardware synchronization signal to/from other OPAL-RT chassis.

Three sets of Rx/Tx connectors and a set of status LEDs are available on the interface. Please refer to the OP7832 page for their full description.

The interface also provides two rotary switches. These switches are unused with the OP7000V2.

This interface is mandatory for OP7000V2 PCIe Expansion and MuSE Central configurations.  In MuSE Remote configuration, this interface is ignored.

  • Slot F1: blank plate. No card should be installed in this slot.

I/O interfaces C(1-8) and C(9-16)

These 16 slots accommodate two types of cards:

  • analog I/O conditioning boards for the analog I/O modules installed on the OP7220 carriers in the front slots,
  • digital I/O cards.

Connectors (D) on most of these modules are DB37F, but some digital I/O cards also offer optical transceivers as shown in the figure above. Some legacy OP7800 boards had BNC connectors but these are not supported on the OP700V2.

For pin-out and LED description of these back interfaces, identify the card name with the label at the top of the faceplate, and refer to the description pages in section OP7000 IO Modules.

Power interface (E)

This section provides:

  • the AC Power connector for the main power supply of the chassis,
  • the ON/OFF switch of the power supply,
  • a GROUND screw (see the System Installation page for connection instructions).
