OP5330 - 16 Analog Output at 1MSPS or 8 Analog Output at 2MSPS
Page Content
The OP5330 module provides 16 single-ended analog output channels sampled at 1MS/s or 8 single-ended analog output channels sampled at 2MS/s, and produces values up to ±16V.
The maximum sampling rate is configurable through RT-LAB. See OP5330 16 AOUT- Dynamic sampling rate
It comes in two versions: the OP5330-1 and the OP5330-3.
The only difference between these two versions is the current limit specification.
Main Features
16 or 8 single-ended analog output channels
16-bit resolution
Simultaneous sampling at 1MS/s or 2MS/s
Configurable voltage range: ±5V, ±10V, ±16V (default)
Current limit : 15 or 35 mA
Factory-calibrated for each voltage range
Channel description
The module uses 8 dual-channel 16-bit resolution digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The channels are sampled at 1 MS/s, giving a total throughput of 16 MS/s, with all channels simultaneously sampled. In 8 channels mode, the sampling is 2 MS/s, giving a total throughput of 16 MS/s , with all channels simultaneously sampled.
The figure below represents a simplified schematic of one channel of the OP5330 module. It is composed of three stages:
The first stage consists of one gain DAC and one offset DAC. These DACs are used to apply the calibration values stored in an onboard EEPROM.
The second stage consists of a signal DAC, which converts the signal data value provided by the simulation, and combines it via an operational amplifier with the calibration gain.
The third stage consists of an operational amplifier that receives the final signal value and integrates it with the calibration offset.
Current - Voltage characteristics
The output voltage range can be set to ±5V, ±10V or ±16V by software. The default range is ±16 volts. The same range applies to all 16 channels of the module.
The maximum current per channel is either ±15mA (OP5330-3) or ±35mA (OP5330-1).
Note: The OP5330-1 should be selected when long cables are needed to connect the OPAL-RT simulator and the external device.
Calibration
The module is factory-calibrated to ensure that the output voltage has a ±20mV precision.
NOTE: A version of this board, the OP5330-1K2, intended for traveling wave applications, has had a modification made on the output voltage to ±4V for a lower signal/noise ratio.
It is available in multiple versions with the following characteristics.
Vendor Part # | Description |
---|---|
OP5330-1K1 | Analog output card 16 channels, 1 MS/s, 16 bits, 35mA, ±16 V |
OP5330-1K2 | Analog output card 16 channels, 1 MS/s, 16 bits, 35mA, ±4 V |
OP5330-3K1 | Analog output card 16 channels, 1 MS/s, 16 bits, 15mA, ±16 V |
Typical Use Cases
The following diagram provides an example of a typical application using the OP5330. Analog output of either 15 or 35 (maximum) mA is directed to the ECU under test, where the analog input is processed by signal conditioning.
For compatibility of this card, please consult the Hardware compatibility table.
