C37.118 Slave | Connections

Once configured, the C37.118 slave I/O interface offers different data points to be connected with the model.

The following data points can be connected to the model to provide the timestamp and additional information about the state of the synchronization:

Description

Phasors

From model to driver

For a given stream, each configured phasor will provide two connection points that will expect to receive data from the model.

  • If the stream is configured in polar mode, connections points will be provided for the magnitude and the angle (in radians).*

  • If the stream is configured in rectangular mode, the connection points will be provided for the real and imaginary parts.

The name of the connection point will contain the stream name, and the configured phasor names.

Analogs

From model to driver

For a given stream, each configured analog value will provide a connection point that will expect to receive data from the model.
The name of the connection point will contain the stream name, and the configured analog point name.

Digitals

From model to driver

For a given stream, each configured digital value will provide a connection point that will expect to receive data from the model.
The name of the connection point will contain the stream name, and the configured digital point name.

Frequency ROC

From model to driver

For a given stream, the driver expects to receive the frequency rate of change from the model (in hertz per second Hz/s).

  • If the stream is configured in INT16, the value will be multiplied by 100 by the driver.

  • If the stream is configured in FLOAT, the value is sent as is.

Frequency deviation

From model to driver

For a given stream, the driver expects to receive the frequency deviation from the model (in millihertz mHz).

  • If the stream is configured in INT16, the value will be sent as is.

  • If the stream is configured in FLOAT, the actual frequency value will be sent. In other words, the driver will add the nominal frequency and the frequency deviation (divided by 1000 to have the same units) together.

*Note regarding the angle: if the phasor format is INT16, the driver will automatically apply a scaling factor of 104. For example, if the signal connected to the phasor input has an angle of 3.1222 radians and the phasor format is INT16, the value sent will be (3.1222 * 104) = 31222. Most third-party tools (such as PMU Connection Tester and Wireshark) automatically apply the inverse factor and convert it to degrees.

This scaling feature is defined by the standard. If the data format is FLOAT, this scaling does not apply.

When Add monitoring on queues is enabled, additional connection points are available:

Main Queue

From driver to model

Percentage of usage of the main processing queue of the driver.

PMU Queue

From driver to model

Percentage of usage of the main processing queue of each stream. This connection is a vector. There is one connection point per configured stream.

When Use external clock is activated, additional connection points are available. These connection points are typically used to receive data from synchronization sources such as the Oregano syn1588 or the Spectracom card, which can be synchronized by GPS, IRIG-B and/or IEEE-1588.

Synchronized

From model to driver

Boolean indicating that the external clock is properly synchronized. Only available if Use external clock is enabled in the configuration

Epoch

From model to driver

External clock time value

Nanoseconds

From model to driver

External clock nanoseconds value

The sensor editor should be used to retrieve the timestamp and status of the Oregano card and use it in the model. Here is an example of sensors connected to a C37.118 slave driver configured with an internal clock, queue monitoring activated, and one single stream configured in polar mode. The stream has two phasors, two analogs and two digital values.
